Abiquo Brings Policy Controls to Virtual Clouds

Abiquo has enhanced its software-as-a-service application for managing virtual servers in the cloud with the ability to set policies based on performance, utilization or compliance requirements.

According to Abiquo CEO Pete Malcolm, the challenge that IT organizations are having with cloud computing in general is the lack of visibility into and control over remote virtual servers in the cloud.

Abiquo effectively solves that problem by integrating its virtualization management service into a range of third-party cloud computing platforms. With the release of version 1.7 of Abiquo, the company is now adding a range of policy-based management capabilities that allows IT organizations to not only manage specific virtual machines, but also apply policies to any number of virtual machines running on a third-party cloud computing service.

A general lack of management tools for virtual machine environments coupled with concerns over the lack of control over third-party platforms is slowing down virtualization adoption. Malcolm says that Abiquo is designed to help resolve those issues in a way that gives IT organizations maximum control over virtual machine deployments in the cloud.
