Adaptive Computing, a provider of cloud computing infrastructure software, is taking that same concept to the cloud with the release of Viewpoint 1.0 for Moab Adaptive Computing Suite.
According to Peter ffolkes, vice president of marketing for Adaptive Computing, the portal software is designed to put a friendlier Web 2.0-style interface in front of cloud computing resources that end users can effectively provision with a minimal amount of IT intervention.
In addition to the new portal software, Adaptive Computing is also updating its core Moab software with a new release that includes enhanced management functionality, tighter integration with provisioning software from IBM, and a more efficient algorithm for making use of distributed system memory.

According to ffolkes, version 5.4 of Moab makes it possible for the cloud computing platform, which was originally developed as a management platform for in high-performance computing applications, to dynamically manage multiple workloads by, in part, leveraging multiple virtual machine provisioning tools from a variety of third-party vendors.
