HiveManager Online takes the management software that Aerohive customers used to have to set up on their own IT infrastructure and makes it available as a service, thereby eliminating the need to buy separate hardware just to run the management software.
Aerohive officials said the nature of the Aerohive wireless network lends itself to this kind of management approach because the company’s Hive access points do not rely on a central controller. Instead, each access point has controller technology built into its firmware, which can then be linked back to HiveManager Online.
In addition to providing HiveManager Online, Aerohive has also made available an online configuration tool for setting up a wireless network. Once configured, customers can then order access points with the exact configurations they have specified online.
Aerohive has also released a HiveAP 120 access point for 802.11n wireless networks, which like all previous Aerohive access points comes with a lifetime guarantee.
