In the case of the Apple iPad, the primary development language used is Obective C, while the SugarCRM application is written in AJAX. That’s why SugarCRM has inked a partnership Appcelerator, a provider of cross-platform tools for building mobile computing applications, under which SugarCRM will extend the reach of its open source CRM applications to the Apple iPad.
According to Scott Schwarzhoff, vice president of marketing for Appcelerator, SugarCRM is using the company’s Titantium development platform to allow users to access an implementation of SugarCRM locally on the iPad and then synchronize that data with the data residing on the SaaS platform.
Schwarzhoff said he expects that Appcelerator will be working with SugarCRM to provide similar capabilities for other mobile devices based on the Google Android system that natively run Java software.
SugarCRM for the iPad is scheduled to be available in August, which will be closely followed by a version for the Apple iPhone as well.
