Instead of repurposing application acceleration code originally designed to run on an appliance in a branch office, Aryaka Network CEO Ajit Gupta said that by starting over, the company is able to deliver a WAN optimization service in the cloud that improves the performance of latency-sensitive applications running across a WAN by 150 percent.
As the number of latency-sensitive applications in the enterprise has increased, bandwidth has become a bigger issue. But most IT organizations have limited their investments in WAN optimization appliances to deal with this issue because of the capital costs.
Gupta says a cloud computing service essentially democratizes WAN optimization software by providing this capability as a service that only needs to be invoked when needed. In contrast, existing WAN optimization solutions are too complex to manage and expensive to deploy, he said.
Pricing for the Aryaka Networks service will be determined by the size of the link to the service and where that link originates.
