The first of these efforts involves a partnership with McAfee under which various security appliances manufactured by McAfee will be integrated with switching and routing technology from Brocade.
Specifically, McAfee firewall and intrusion prevention technology will be embedded in Brocade routers, while Brocade switches will be used to load-balanced multiple McAfee firewalls. In addition, McAfee’s network access control (NAC) software will be tightly coupled with Brocade switching technology.
According to Geoffrey Sejourne, Brocade product marketing manager for campus products, customers are demanding that security be embedded in network infrastructure as part of an effort to guarantee higher levels of security, while also reducing costs by eliminating the need for separate appliances.
Sejourne added that customers should expect Brocade to strike a number of security alliances with a variety of vendors as part of an effort to give customers the broadest set of choices possible when it comes to security software.
