According to Vince Re, CA senior vice president of software engineering, Oblicore differs from other IT management tools in that it provides a service orientation in terms of how it monitors IT applications and infrastructure. To that end, Re says Oblicore comes with more than 60 connectors to various IT management products that the product then calls on to create a more holistic view of the overall IT service environment.
Re adds that IT organizations not only need to present information in this format to their business colleagues, they are also going to increasingly monitor IT operations as sets of discrete services that will be increasingly built around a “supply chain” model under which various IT assets are glued together. That model will be especially apparent as more IT organizations embrace various forms of cloud computing, he said.

Oblicore’s customers include AT&T, ABN AMRO, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, France Telecom, ING, Lufthansa Systems, Siemens Medical Solutions, and T-Systems. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
