Crosscheck Networks intends to help IT organizations overcome that uncertainty with a new modeling tool for cloud computing called CloudPort.
Using its own monitoring software, Crosscheck gathers performance statistics from all the major cloud computing platforms. It then makes all that information available via the CloudPort modeling tool that allows IT organizations to simulate how specific application workloads might actually perform on any given cloud computing platform.
According to Crosscheck CEO Mamoon Yunus, CloudPort is intended to provide some real-world statistics around what previously have been theoretical discussions of what might happen to the performance characteristics of any given application in the cloud. In addition, he notes, CloudPort allows IT organizations to model what might happen to any application as various infrastructure components, such as underlying storage systems, are upgraded.

Yunus adds that in the not too distant future, a number of cloud computing vendors will make CloudPort available as a service to their potential customers.
Pricing for CloudPort is $4,999.
