The Dell KACE K1000 management appliance brings new power management capabilities to the systems management appliance and support for setting up service desks that are consistent with best practices outlined in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
According to Dell KACE president Rob Meinhardt, this new offering is based on version 5.1 of the KACE software that is delivered as an appliance that IT organizations serving small-to-medium business (SMB) customers can easily master. In many instances, IT organizations serving SMB customer want to increase the sophistication of their IT services capabilities, but they need an approach to ITIL that essentially works out of the box and is easy to install.
Meinhardt added that most of the IT organizations serving SMB customers are staffed by IT generalists, which the Dell KACE appliances are ideally suited for as they are designed to automate most routine IT management processes.
The new Dell KACE K1000 series, priced at $8,900 for a system that can manage 100 nodes, is intended to be an entry level complement to the existing Dell KACE K2000 series.
