The KACE unit of Dell that specializes in reducing the cost of systems management wants to eliminate one of the primary pain points of IT.
Dell KACE today will unveil a free stand-alone Secure Browser offering that isolates potential security threats on the Web before they can infect a user’s system.
According to Rob Meinhardt, president of the Dell KACE, in the event that existing security investments should fail to thwart a threat, Dell KACE wants to give customers a browser tool that leverages application virtualization technology to contain any malicious code.
Meinhardt said the Secure Browser offering is based on technology that KACE acquired when it purchased Computers in Motion in 2008. Dell acquired KACE earlier this year.
The secure browser from Dell KACE is initially available for users of the Firefox browser, with support for Internet Explorer planned for a future date.
The Secure Browser can either be deployed in a stand-alone fashion or integrated with Dell KACE systems management appliances.
