DigitalPersona Extends Security Management Offerings

DigitalPersona, a provider of authentication and endpoint-protection solutions, is thinking small with its new DigitalPersona Pro Workgroup line of software.

Not small as in the capability of the software, which is designed to centralize management of factory-installed security software in Microsoft-enabled PCs. Rather, DigitalPersona is thinking of the size of the enterprise it is targeting with the suite.

Pro Workgroup is aimed at small to mid-sized enterprises, as well as individual departments within larger enterprises. The solution gives IT administrators a Web browser-based console for defining and deploying security policies tailored to the needs of diverse groups of users. These policies control a suite of security applications on users' PCs that provide data encryption (encryption of disk drives and files), access management (single sign-on with authentication to computers, networks and applications), and secure communications (digital signing of documents and e-mail encryption).

Thus, Pro Workgroup software provides an out-of-the-box solution for centrally managing the endpoint-protection tools being factory-installed on many of the leading models of notebooks and desktop computers.  DigitalPersona also provides software for other PCs that can be installed by customers, enabling IT administrators to manage new and old machines together.

DigitalPersona is targeting an often-overlooked segment of the enterprise computing market with Pro Workgroup. Enterprise computing might have once been the province of large organizations with multiple locations. However, advances in cloud technology and software-as-a-service have made the distributed enterprise model accessible for smaller organizations. In addition, working in home or remote offices has become common for employees in companies of all sizes.
