New version of free utility makes it easier to automate scheduling of reports. When server performance issues are first discovered, no one is usually very sure what the root cause of the problem is.
Diskeeper Corp. at Interop today plan to try to eliminate a lot of that mystery with the release of version 3.0 of its free Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks offering, which lets remote network administrators see how fragmented a disk on a network-attached server might be.
Companies will still need to run a standard copy of Diskeeper to defragment the server’s disk drive, but at least network managers have one more tool to help them diagnose a potential problem quickly, said John Loria, Diskeeper director of product development.
Given the fact that server and network management teams are not always on the same page, the utility also helps reduce potential sources of tension by identifying a potential performance problem before it escalates into a major IT issues, he added.

The latest edition of the Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks also allows network managers to group sets of various servers together for analysis and adds the ability to automatically schedule reports.
