Ektron Releases Enterprise Collaboration Platform

Ektron launched eIntranet, a “total solution” for intranets, at this week’s Enterprise 2.0 Conference in Boston. Ektron says the solution will allow enterprise intranet users to mash up internal and external applications and content.

eIntranet is designed to combine functionality for social networking and Web content management in a single application. A content management platform provides workflow, document and content management and organization capabilities.

The solution also runs several social networking features. For example, activity streams provide real-time updates on company events and data, and social networking tools like personal profiles and blogs ease communication. Notification and filtering engines help sort data, while a mobile app delivers this functionality to user mobile devices.

For higher-level users, eIntranet provides analytical capabilities and cloud-based document taxonomy. Ektron says the solution, built on .NET and social networking best practices, is customizable and can be integrated with other enterprise systems, such as SharePoint, as well as CRM, HR and ERP systems.

Considering their real-time global reach, ease of use and explosive growth, online social networks can be considered the ultimate enterprise technology. In their private lives, consumers can quickly and easily connect to an almost limitless number of people around the world and exchange information in real time.
By applying this functionality to business enterprise computing, eIntranet is joining other pioneers in this space, such as Salesforce.com, in taking online social networks to their next logical step.

eIntranet is currently available starting at $5,000 for a 25-seat user license. eIntranet integrates technology elements from Ektron’s CMS400.NET core content management system, but does not require a separate purchase of the platform.
