Finjan Partners with Amazon on Cloud Security

Finjan, a provider of security software based on a real-time content inspection technology, has inked a pact with Amazon under which it will offer its security software as both a service in the cloud and as a separate managed service that integrates with existing on-premise implementations of Finjan security software.

The two Finjan services, dubbed Vital Cloud and Vital Cloud Hybrid, are intended to give customers flexibility as they look to shift the management of security to on-line services in order to reduce costs. By deploying security as a service, IT organizations eliminate the capital costs associated with acquiring security technology and reduce their need to hire expensive security specialists. This diagram illustrates the Finjan flow:

Finjan officials also said they believe that by running their software on Amazon’s EC2 platform they will gain an advantage when it comes to scale, versus having to build, deploy and manage their own data centers.

Finjan has been locked in a battle with security rivals as it tries to drive adoption of its real-time content inspection technology as a more effective alternative to offerings that are dependent on discovering the signatures of specific malware outbreaks.
