To solve this problem, Apparent Networks today is rolling out a free Cloud Performance Center service for its customers through which Apparent Networks will be using its own network monitoring tools to track the performance of network services between various public cloud computing platforms and major cities.

Most of the networks linking customers to their cloud computing providers are not owned by the customer or the provider. To provide visibility into networks typically managed by third-party ISPs, Apparent Networks has set itself up as a customer of those ISPs. In so doing, it has deployed its network monitoring software on all of the networks to create the Cloud Performance Center.
Customers can also create their own scorecard to track the performance of various providers, and then do some baseline comparisons against their own service levels. Apparent Networks also plans to make available a monthly report of the state of networking in the cloud as well.
Apparent Networks is offering the service because it hopes as more customers get exposed to its technology, the more likely they will be to deploy the company’s monitoring software for their own internal networks or any specific external network they use. Pricing for that service is $5 per network path per month.
