According to HyTrust CEO Eric Chiu, Intel’s TXT gives companies that make policy management tools for virtualization the ability to access information at the root level of the latest generation of Intel processors and the hypervisors running on top of it.
This ability, he said, makes it possible to enforce access policies at a more granular level, which is becoming more important as Tier 1 enterprise applications are increasingly deployed on top of virtual machine software.
While hypervisor security has not proven to be a major issue yet, compliance requirements mean that IT organizations need to be able to document who accessed what virtual machine when.
The HyTrust appliance is designed to control access to VMware virtual machines, audit logs and implement policies in order to meet compliance regulations and generally reduce the potential for virtual machine sprawl, said Chiu.
