Jive Extends Reach of Enterprise Social Network

Jive Software is extending the reach of it social networking software for the enterprise to a broader range of applications and devices.

Jive 4.0 adds support for mobile devices such as the Apple iPhone and the Blackberry, while also delivering a connector that couples the Jive environment to Microsoft Office.

The new version of Jive also brings an enhanced Bridging Module that makes it easier to capture discussions on the Web and bring them into the Jive environment, and makes available a new analytics module that customers can use to create reports about a range of activities across the Jive environment.

Social networking in the enterprise has been gaining ground as corporations look to replicate the capabilities of Web 2.0 applications on the Web inside their corporation. Longer term, Jive officials said they expect to increase the integration between Jive and environments such as Facebook by adding support for emerging OpenSocial standards.

In the meantime, customers have been asking Jive to better integrate the social networking environments with a range of existing enterprise applications as a way to further boost productivity through more collaboration.
