Lenovo Launches L Series of ThinkPad Notebooks

Lenovo plans to gradually replace the R Series of ThinkPad notebooks with a new, more environmentally friendly series of notebooks.

Rather than just upgrade the R series of ThinkPads with Intel i3 and i5 Core processors, Lenovo is taking advantage of the new Intel processors to roll out a new ThinkPad L series of notebooks that not only have Energy Star 5.0 ratings, but are also made from as much as 30 percent post-consumer content, said Tom Butler, Lenovo director of worldwide product marketing.

Butler said the ThinkPad L series has been designed with new technologies such as Voice-over-IP (VoIP) in mind, and the first two models in the series come with discrete graphics capabilities powered by processors from ATI.

The first two members of the L Series family, which can run up to eight hours on battery, sport 14- and 15-inch screens with pricing starting at $649.
