ManageEngine Makes Identifying Anomalies Simpler

Network management vendor ManageEngine has upgraded one of its most popular technologies to include features that make it easier to identify performance issues.

The company has released a new set of tools for Applications Manager, its server and application monitoring software, that include anomaly detection as well as integrated application and SAN monitoring.

“This is an application performance management tool that can help troubleshoot across layers of technology and help pinpoint bottlenecks,” said Gibu Mathew, product manager, Applications Performance Management Solutions at ManageEngine. “Because it runs across technologies and is based on custom user expressions, it can help ensure optimal business applications performance.”

The anomaly detection feature works with myriad technologies including application servers, ERP systems, databases and heterogeneous servers, Mathew noted. It also offers performance management for Web and J2EE transactions, giving companies the ability to monitor end-user experiences to help them understand the strengths and weaknesses of their transaction systems. “Companies can play back web transactions to monitor the performance,” he said.

The latest version of Applications Manager also includes integration application and SAN monitoring via the company’s OpStor connector, which provides both application performance details and storage device metrics in one view.

Custom dashboards also are available with the latest version of Applications Manager, enabling users to create the views they want into their technology performance.

“We understand the need to focus on providing a business-centric view of technology, and can provide that,” Mathew said. “Users now can group and monitor their business transactions to give more visibility to the transaction team,” rather than looking at different technologies separately.

The new functionality of Applications Manager is available now. Pricing starts at $995 for the anomaly detection, which is in addition to the $795 price tag for Applications Manager (for the first 25 servers or applications), and the OpStor SAN Monitoring Connector AddOn is an additional $995. Enterprise pricing is available.
