Mu Dynamics says it has overcome that challenge with the release today of Mu Studio Scale, which company officials claim is the first application testing tool that can truly replicate customer usage scenarios.
According to My Dynamics CEO Dave Kresse, the challenge most IT organizations face is that even after extensive application testing, their applications still run into issues when finally deployed in production environments. This is especially true of Web applications, where the number of users accessing that application at any given moment is always unknown, he said.
In addition, virtualization and cloud computing are adding more complexity to the IT infrastructure that applications are being asked to run on. And finally, as mobile computing devices increase in popularity, Kresse said IT organizations are struggling with the latency-sensitive nature of mobile computing applications.
Mu Dynamics is addressing this issue with an on-premise testing system that makes use of what the company called parameterized test scenarios that allow testers to replicate actual application usage models that closely resemble the stress levels any given application would experience.

In contrast, Kresse said existing application testing tools don’t model real-world application testing scenarios based on data gathered from live production servers in real time.
