nGenera Personalizes Enterprise Collaboration

Collaboration applications provider nGenera unveiled what it terms a “human-centered” enterprise collaboration application at the Enterprise 2.0 conference in Boston. Partnering with global design firm IDEO, nGenera is releasing Spaces by nGenera.

Spaces by nGenera is being positioned as user-centric and offering easy integration into organizations’ cultures, workflows, internal structures, and data sources. In addition to offering typical enterprise collaboration features and functions, nGenera says its new solution provides a templating engine that allows users to modify the standard user interface to meet community, group or individual needs and preferences.

In addition, Spaces by nGenera is built on a plug-in architecture with embedded interactive mini-applications designed to ease customized integration with user IT architectures and platforms. A “container model” allows specific people, groups and projects to only have access to relevant collaboration modules, and enterprise-class social policy management secures and controls restricted content.

Other features include integration with the nGenera nGen Knowledgebase knowledge management solution, which streamlines internet-based documentation and information-sharing activities.

The world is becoming an increasingly personalized place, both inside and outside the enterprise. Social networks are enabling people to have a highly customized Internet experience. Expectations of personalization have already infiltrated the workplace, as evidenced by flex-time, working at home, and decentralized leadership structures. nGenera’s application of personalization to enterprise collaboration is the next logical step toward a world where everyone gets what they want, how they want it, without having to think about it too much.

The general availability of Spaces by nGenera is scheduled for early Q3 2010.
