The company today announced that its Cloud Security Service is now generally available. According to Dipo Chackravarty, general manager for cloud security at Novell, the Novell Cloud Security Service provides a framework for just in time provisioning of access management in both public and private cloud computing environments.

According to Chackravarty, the ability to provision identity management tokens in real time allows the Novell Cloud Security Service to scale to meet the demanding requirements of cloud computing environments that typically will have thousands of users trying to access files on both local and remote cloud computing platforms. More than likely, those cloud computing scenarios will involve hybrid models consisting of both public and private cloud computing resources that will need to be managed under a common identity management framework. Now that cloud computing security concerns are being addressed, Chackravart says he also expects to see more rapid adoption of cloud computing.
Chackravarty said the Novell Cloud Security Service makes use of RESTful APIs to integrate with applications running in the cloud to better manage application workloads.
