Open Source Middleware Gains Management Console

One of the last bastions of proprietary software in the enterprise is middleware. But with the arrival of open source software from companies such as Red Hat, IBM, WSO2 and Jitterbit, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before open source middleware gains more traction.

To achieve that goal, Jitterbit today released a version 3.0 of its Enterprise MX middleware that adds an improved console intended to help close the gap between open source and proprietary middleware offerings in terms of their management capabilities. Here's a look a the console:

This latest release also adds a number of templates for connecting various types of applications as part of an ongoing effort to simplify the data integration process.

Overall, Jitterbit is trying to develop a middleware platform that is simple enough for business analysts and others to use without requiring any custom programming from the development team. In so doing, Jitterbit hopes to empower business analysts to create any number of business processes on the fly without having to rely on help from the IT department.
