Oracle to Simplify Application Security

Oracle wants to simplify the end-to-end security process during the development of enterprise applications.

The company today will roll out Oracle Identity Management 11g, which in addition to adding support for the Oracle 11g database significantly simplifies by making an array of security services available under a common services framework.

According to Rohit Gupta, Oracle senior director of product management for Oracle identity and security products, the challenges associated with securing applications stem from the fact that developers are asked to add security components into their applications after they are essentially developed. An integrated approach to security services will make it easier for developers to add security components to their applications by calling Oracle identity management services as each component of the application is being built, said Gupta.

As cyber criminals increasingly target applications, Gupta said, Oracle is trying to make it easier to create various “security zones” within the application that can be invoked at any time during the application development lifecycle.
