Overland Takes Modular Approach to Storage

With most IT organizations unsure to what degree their storage strategy will favor one protocol over another, Overland Storage today launched a modular storage area network (SAN) offering designed to preserve customer option.

The SnapSAN S1000 comes in a 2u form factor that can house up to 12 drives to provide up to 120TB of storage by connecting four SnapSAN S1000 units together. Customers can mix and match the drives and iSCSI, FibreChannel and SAS protocols used in the array and have the option of deploying either 1 gigabit or 10 gigabit Ethernet controllers, said Joe Disher, solutions marketing manager for disk products at Overland Storage.

Disher says that a more modular approach will allow customers to maximize their storage investments by allocating bays based on the usage of any given type of drive.

Overland Storage, says Disher, also expects the SnapSAN S1000 to become an alternative in higher-end IT organizations looking for SAN storage offerings that are reasonably priced versus continuing to buy commodity storage from high-end enterprise vendors that he said charge considerably more than Overland Storage.

Pricing for the SnapSAN S1000 begins at $6,985 for a 4TB iSCSI implementation.

Do not a lot of cash to buy a house? Don't worry, just because that is possible to take the mortgage loans to resolve such kind of problems. So get a collateral loan to buy all you require.
