Precise Takes Transaction Monitoring Virtual

Precise today launched a version of its transaction processing software that runs as a virtual appliance.

According to Zohar Gilad, executive vice president of Precise, the ability to replace dedicated physical appliances to run systems management software of all types is making it easier for IT organizations of all sizes to enhance their IT investments by using the latest management tools. Previously, the cost of the appliance would be an impediment to adoption, which left many IT organizations bereft of state-of-the-art tools. With the advent of virtual machine software, Gilad says the adoption rate for all types of systems management tools should increase exponentially.

The Precise tools are designed to specially focus on distributed transaction processing environments that are becoming increasingly complex to manage in an age where transactions can now be kicked off using just about any modern smartphone. As such, IT organizations, says Gilad, are looking for tools to discover potential bottlenecks that could be almost anywhere on an extended enterprise network that is likely to consist of multiple sites running on multiple cloud computing platforms.

The Precise software has been designed to work on top of VMware.
