The new release extends the reach of the BI application by adding support for an open format for integrating data and a new Web services API to make it easier to control functions outside of the QlikView environment.
In addition, the new release allows users to integrate QlikView within their websites and gives customers the option of importing their own visualization models into the QlickView environment.
QlikTech has also improved the overall performance of the QlickView environment by enhancing the C and AJAX code used in the environment, which contributes to a two- to 10-fold improvement of performance on multicore processors.
According to Anthony Deighton, senior vice president of products, the ability to run QlikView in memory is the most innovative thing about QlikView. The performance of the overall system allows QlikView to keep track of associations between different sets of data, thereby improving the overall ability to navigate through complex BI information.
The “associative search” capability is critical, he said, to promoting the adoption of BI software among users in the enterprise that have been reluctant to deploy BI applications alongside their spreadsheet applications to analyze data.
