The DXi4500 series of disk backup appliances leverage faster processors and significantly larger drives to help IT organizations close backup windows that have greatly expanded as the amount of data that needs to be managed continues to grow unabated.
Mike Sparkes, Quantum disk marketing manager, said that despite the advantages of disk backup and data deduplication, many IT organizations have yet to fully embrace these technologies because they find them complex to use and expensive to deploy. As an appliance, Sparkes said the DXi4500 series is designed make using these technologies much simpler to master by leveraging Quantum Vision software.
Compatible with the Symantec OpenStorage API, the Quantum disk backup appliances can be used in conjunction with any third-party data deduplication software, said Sparkes.
Pricing for the DXi4500 series, which come in 2TB and 4TB versions, start at $12,500 and $22,500, respectively.
