Red Hat is focusing on portability and interoperability with new extensions to its Cloud Foundations portfolio. Red Hat says it is promoting consistency between enterprise applications and the cloud, as well as allowing customers to more effectively use multiple clouds.
To increase the portability of Cloud Foundations solutions, Red Hat is offering tools including a cloud engine, self-service portal, tools and Deltacloud APIs. A built-in application builder is designed to provide application lifecycle management, allowing users to write an application once, then modify it as needed.
In addition, cloud services enable users to move application features such as storage and messaging in and out of the cloud, while Red Hat's platform-as-a-service (PaaS) architecture model is designed to maximize flexibility and scalability of the portfolio.
Red Hat is also partnering with several other enterprise technology vendors to further boost the flexibility and interoperability of its Cloud Foundations solutions. The Ingres database is a certified solution with Cloud Foundations, and Cloud Foundations is also interoperable with Intel Cloud Builder and Symantec storage-management solutions.
Furthermore, Wipro's open source solutions for cloud technologies support Red Hat Cloud Foundations.
