Reflex Rolls Out Configuration Tool for Virtual Machines

Reflex Systems has launched a new configuration management module for virtual machines.

The vProfile configuration tool not only provides a policy engine for automating the deployment of virtual machines and identifying poorly configured systems; it also provides a heat map that allows IT organizations to easily identify where there are ongoing sets of problems.

Reflex Systems CEO Pete Privateer said that vProfile not only identifies issues with virtual machines, but guest operating systems as well. IT organizations generally underestimate the complexity associated with configuring virtual machines, which Privateer said is more often than not the source of most issues associated with virtual machine performance.

With the release of vProfile, Reflex Systems is breaking up its suite of virtualization management tools into a set of more accessible modules. The Reflex Virtualization Management Center also includes a virtual configuration management database (CMDB) and a Virtualization Query Language developed by Reflex that automates most of the systems management functions associated with virtual machines.

A lack of virtualization management tools is slowing the adoption of virtual machines as IT organizations struggle to cope with the sheer number of virtual machines that need to be managed on an ongoing basis.
