SolarWinds Synthesizes Network Data

SolarWinds is trying to help network managers make better sense of the streams of data generated by its network management platform.

Version 3.6 of the SolarWinds Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) now provides the ability to have a comprehensive overview of the network to determine how much bandwidth is being used by whom and for what, said Sanjay Castelino, SolarWinds vice president of product management.

The challenge that most network managers face, said Castelino, is that it is difficult to correlate what is happening on the network. To solve this issue, the new version of Orion NTA allows network managers to groups of users and applications that are consuming bandwidth and what protocols they are invoking while accessing that data. Once that information is gathered, network managers can then map that traffic geographically to determine where it is actually flowing from and to on their network, said Castelino.

Castelino added that the Orion NTA module is now 10 times faster in terms of collecting data, and can be used in concert with open source agents to analyze network traffic.

Pricing for Orion NTA starts at $1,795.

This is exciting!! Can't wait!! Orion Netflow Traffic Analysis was already such a help and now that we can group things - just awesome!!
