Sophos today intends to solve that problem with a new set of Live Protection security services delivered via the cloud that include a heuristic security tool managed by Sophos on behalf of its customers. In effect, the Sophos security team keeps tracks of attacks being made on customers and tunes the Sophos security software running on the client for customers as the service and the Sophos security team that manages it learns more about the attributes of those attacks, said Mark Harris, vice president of SophosLabs and Global Engineering Operations.
According to Harris, Sophos Labs samples roughly 50,000 malware files a day to build its expertise.

The Sophos cloud computing service is built around URL filtering software that is hosted by Sophos, anti-virus software that is remotely managed, and Run-Time Behavior Detection software that is essentially an expert system managed by Sophos.
Sophos Live is part of a new generation of security services delivered via the cloud that are all designed to lower the cost of ongoing security management by automating more security functions.
