STORserver Appliance Speeds Recovery Times

When it comes to backup and recovery, there is too much focus is on the backup and not enough on the recovery. To address that issue, STORserver has unveiled a new appliance that allows IT organizations to better prioritize which files need to be recovered first.

The STORServer Backup Appliance with Instant Restore leverages IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manager software and a block-level backup method for not only files, but also applications and databases. This approach, said Bill Smoldt, STORserver vice president of research and development, to instantly recover a company’s most critical data.

As IT organizations struggle with the growth of data, many of them are missing recovery point objectives. Smoldt says the Backup Appliance with Instant Restore provides a way for IT organizations to start prioritizing data so that recovery point objectives can be met for a company’s most critical data.

In addition, once the appliance detects that a user is trying to access a specific file, the appliance will move that data to the front of the recovery queue to provide immediate access, said Smoldt.

Pricing for the STORserver Backup Appliance with Instant Restore starts at $9,999.
