STORServer Brings Intelligence to SharePoint Backup

To deal with this issue, STORserver has enhanced its Business Intelligence Matrix software that allows IT organizations to assign backup priority to SharePoint servers based on their business value and has licensed agent software from IBM’s Tivoli group to simplify what is today a cumbersome SharePoint administrative process.

According to Bill Smoldt, STORserver vice president of research and development, SharePoint shares the same complex systems administration heritage as Microsoft Exchange. This has created a need to reduce complexity by leveraging Tivoli agent software to manage the backup process for instances of SharePoint servers at a more granular level.

The STORserver Agent for Tivoli Storage Manager Microsoft SharePoint 6.1 offering allows IT organizations to create backup policies based on how they classify SharePoint data. When the size of any given SharePoint server exceeds the available backup window, STORserver also provides the ability to back up instances of SharePoint in parallel to multiple appliances.

Pricing for STORserver Agent for Tivoli Storage Manager Microsoft SharePoint 6.1 starts at $1,500 per server.
