Telligent is releasing new versions of its Telligent Community and Telligent Enterprise software that give more flexibility and control of these applications to users.
Version 5.5 of the Telligent Community online community application now allows users to add, order and customize fields on the registration form, increasing the amount and types of participant information that can be collected. In addition, user interface enhancements allow two-click content posts, status updates, file updates, conversations and questions.
Other enhancements to Telligent Community 5.5 include new content pages, navigation capabilities, blog/file mashups, and search-driven content areas.
Version 2.5 of Telligent Enterprise allows users to control day-to-day e-mail-driven collaboration, as well as create dashboards subject to corporate data access policies. Flexible and extensible security options allow management to set access rights to content for different users. Video content can be shared from internal or external users with play-in-place functionality.
Both products are built on the Telligent Evolution platform, a collaboration and community platform built for integration and enabling organizations to extend their Telligent Enterprise and Telligent Community investments. The Telligent Evolution Platform API is accessible through a robust Web Services (REST) API, allowing users to create solutions and integrate with other technologies.
The ubiquity of social networking makes it inevitable that employees will start expecting to have social networking-type interactions with co-workers, clients and business partners. That requirement, for example, led Salesforce.com to introduce Salesforce Chatter, a new secure enterprise collaboration application and social development platform based on popular consumer social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
While Telligent’s solutions are not social networking services, the latest upgrades show that Telligent is clearly paying attention to the rapid integration of social networking into business applications.
