According to Trend Micro senior vice president John Maddison, a hybrid approach between on-premise and cloud computing is going to be required by most IT organizations. The important thing, said Maddision, is to be able to manage both on-premise and cloud security services under a common console.
The latest version of the company’s InterScan Messaging Security Virtual Appliance (IMSVA) leverages a software-as-a-service offering from Trend Micro to block spam, while allowing the overall security service to be managed locally while running on top of an instance of VMware.
Version 8.0 of IMSVA also adds support for Web reputation filtering as a component of the company’s Smart Protection Network.
