Latest edition to Tripwire Enterprise 8.0 automatically resolves configuration issues.
It is one thing to discover a problem; but it’s quite another to fix it.
Tripwire today is going to extend its ability to discover compliance issues with the addition of a Remediation Manager to version 8.0 of the Tripwire Enterprise 8.0 platform.
According to Michael Thelander, a product manager at Tripwire, Remediation Manager can automatically repair 98 percent of all configuration errors detected by the company’s Compliance Policy Manager.
Tripwire is adding the Remediation Manager at the request of customers who, while valuing Tripwire’s ability to discover compliance issues, also needed a tool to automatically solve those problems. At a time when most IT organizations are short-handed, Thelander said customers are looking automate the remediation process as quickly as possible, especially when it comes to complex issues such as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), where the scope of the compliance problem can rapidly expand.
Rather than having to develop their own custom script to do that, the Remediation Engine creates a standard script for fixing configuration issues, said Thelander.

In addition, Tripwire Enterprise 8.0 now provides customers with a structured process for discovering and remediation compliance issues that not only creates an audit trail, but also moves customers closer complying with specifications such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
Configuration issues are not only a major issue when it comes to compliance; they are the bane of network and systems management. By automating the remediation process, the potential impact in terms of IT management could go well beyond compliance issues.
