Unisys Launches USB-based Stealth Security

Unisys today unveiled the Stealth Solution for Secure Virtual Terminal (SSVT), a USB-based security solution that Unisys says eliminates all malware on a Windows or Linux machine, while also allowing users to encrypt all the communications they send over the public Internet.

Originally developed by Unisys for the National Security Agency, this commercial version of the Unisys security offering leverages SecureParser technology developed by Security First Corp. that cryptographically splits data into multiple packets before sending that information out across the Internet. Once received, SecureParser then reassembles those packets to create a message that can be read by an authorized user.

Mark Feverston, vice president of data security solutions for Unisys, says that besides giving businesses easy access to encryption technology, SSVT should also greatly reduce the amount of security infrastructure, such as virtual private networks (VPNs) and firewalls that IT organizations need to deploy.

Unisys is making SSVT available as software that IT organizations can deploy themselves or as a managed service delivered by Unisys.

Earlier this year, the NSA gave the Unisys Stealth Solution a Network EAL-4+ certification.
