According to Young-Sae Song, Vidyo vice president of product marketing, the VidyoRouter Cloud Edition has been modified to dynamically adjust to different network bandwidth and application latency requirements, while also providing interoperability with a variety of third-party hardware-based videoconferencing client systems.
Videoconferencing services in the cloud are scarce because of the complexities of managing video on a large-scale basis. But Song says that because the Vidyo approach leverages software and a standard Web programming environment, Vidyo has been able to create a cloud edition that can be deployed by service providers or large-scale enterprises deploying their own videoconferencing systems on private or public cloud infrastructure.
Like all Vidyo offerings, the cloud edition of VidyoRouter complies with H.264 scalable video coding (SVC) standards and as a software-only solution that can be deployed on standard Intel servers at less than one-tenth the cost of a single telepresence room system.
