Xangati Rolls Out Free VMware ESX Manager

As management continues to be a major issue confronting IT organizations wrestling with virtual machine software, the challenge is that they don’t have easy access to virtualization management tools.

Xangati for ESX can track traffic moving across virtual switches and the VMware API, as well as record events triggered by specific alerts.

In addition to rolling out a free version of its ESX management tools, Xangati is enhancing the Xangati Management Dashboard, which now provides a single pane of glass for managing a broad range of VMware functions. IT organization can also use the dashboard to give users access to specific information related to the overall virtual environment based on their role in the organization, said David Messina, Xangati vice president of marketing. For example, the owner of a specific set of applications could be given a dashboard view that was specific to their applications, he said.

By making a version of its existing management tools for ESX servers available for free, Messina said Xangati is hoping that more customers will eventually upgrade to Xangati for ESX Pro.
