Zetta Obsoletes Traditional Backup and Recovery

Zetta has unveiled a new edition to its cloud storage service that eliminates the need for the traditional approach to backup and recovery.

The Zetta Data Protection service makes use of software that is deployed on a customer’s premise to replicate data in real time to the Zetta cloud storage service. That data is then made available in real time to end users that can peruse it to find any file they need.

In effect, says Jeff Bell, Zetta director of marketing, this approach eliminates the need to first back up files and then spend an inordinate amount of IT time trying to recover a specific file.

Zetta Data Protection relies on Zetta Mirror agent software that is deployed on local servers and then replicates data to the Zetta Storage Service.

Pricing for the new service is $256 per terabyte per month.
